Gems Education welcomes 1,700 new teachers in Dubai as 2025 marks a turning point

Dubai, UAE – Gems Education has begun the new academic year on a historic note, welcoming more than 1,700 new teachers from across the globe. The announcement was made at the annual GEMS Awareness Day hosted at Atlantis, The Palm, where Chairman and Founder Sunny Varkey described 2025 as “a turning point” for education.

A record recruitment drive

· Gems Education reported that it receives more than 600,000 applications each year for about 2,000 vacancies.

· For the 2025–26 school year, over 1,700 teachers have joined the network, representing a wide range of countries and educational backgrounds.

· The recruitment reflects Gems’ strong reputation for attracting top educators worldwide.

Sunny Varkey’s vision for the future

· In his keynote speech, Sunny Varkey highlighted that education is no longer only about progress or leadership, but about reimagining learning to meet the needs of a new generation.

· He highlighted the role of technology and artificial intelligence in shaping classrooms but stressed that teachers remain central to student success.

· “Technology cannot instill in children the values and mindset needed to succeed and grow into good human beings. No line of code can replace warmth and encouragement,” he told the audience.

Family at the heart of learning

· Varkey emphasized that education goes beyond academics, focusing equally on values, character development, and overall wellbeing.

· He pointed to initiatives such as BEYOND100, Determined Genius, Family First Café, and Parent 360 that focus on family involvement and student development.

· He emphasized: “Our promise is simple – to always put children first.”

Student success on the global stage

Gems Education continues to see outstanding achievements among its students, who secure places at leading universities worldwide:

· 250 students secured admissions into some of the world’s top 50 universities.

· 353 students into Russell Group institutions in the UK

· Seven students earned placements at renowned Ivy League universities in the United States.

Building a culture of excellence

· Group CEO Dino Varkey echoed the Chairman’s words, noting that recruiting and nurturing the best educators is central to Gems’ mission.

· He described Gems Awareness Day as a celebration of excellence and belonging, ensuring teachers feel connected to the wider network.

· Gems also reported strong teacher retention rates, investing heavily in leadership growth and professional development.

Looking ahead

With record teacher recruitment, innovative family-focused initiatives, and strong global student outcomes, Gems Education is positioning 2025 as a defining moment in its journey. The focus remains clear: to blend innovation with the irreplaceable human connection that only teachers can provide.
